On September 13, 2023 Beijing time, Zhejiang Normal University and the University of Kansas held an online conference on matters related to the School of Joint Education at Zhejiang Normal University (hereinafter referred to as the School of Joint Education). Joe Potts, Assistant Vice Dean of International Affairs at the University of Kansas, Sheree Willis, Director of International Affairs at the School of Education and Humanities, Lisa Wolf Wendel, Vice Dean of Graduate School, Heidi Hallman, Director of Curriculum and Teaching, David Hansen, Director of Educational Psychology, Jennifer Kurth, Director of Special Education, Mao Xilong, Director of International Affairs at Zhejiang Normal University, Yang Kai, Deputy Director, Huang Xiao, Dean of Education, and Wang Lianghui, Vice Dean Vice President Wang Zhanjun and project manager Zhu Jian attended the meeting. Relevant administrative personnel from the International Department and School of Education of Zhejiang Normal University participated in the meeting.
Huang Xiao, Dean of the School of Education, reviewed the curriculum, credit hours, and other aspects of graduate science and technology education, applied psychology, and special education in three majors and four directions. He also gave a brief introduction to the undergraduate enrollment and opening arrangements for the first primary education program in 2023 for the University of Kansas. Both China and the United States reached a further consensus on the four one-third training programs.
The meeting held a detailed discussion on the undergraduate and master's programs, teaching courses, faculty allocation, graduation requirements, and graduate enrollment plan of the United Education College. The heads of various departments at the School of Education and Humanities at the University of Kansas stated that they will implement the content of this meeting as soon as possible and develop a systematic document on the teaching staff and curriculum of the US side. They will work closely with Zhejiang Normal University to provide excellent teaching and services for the undergraduate students in primary education and the upcoming graduate students.
The training program of the Joint Education School of the University of Kansas at Zhejiang Normal University focuses on global education, aiming to cultivate graduates with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills. College students who complete all the courses specified in the relevant training plan and meet academic requirements can obtain equivalent degrees from both Zhejiang Normal University and the University of Kansas.
