The first parents' meeting of the undergraduate students in Zhejiang Normal University Kansas University Joint Education College was held on the afternoon of October 7. Xiao Huang, Dean of the ZJNU-KU,Jian Zhu, Program director of ZJNU-KU,Weijun Pu, counselor of the ZJNU-KU,Yuting Zhang and Chenchen Ding, Jiayuan Chen and more than 80 parents of new students attended the meeting. The parents' meeting was hosted by Jian Zhu.
First of all,Jian Zhu showed his gratitude to the parents for attending the meeting.Then, he cited the policy text，which aimed at emphasizing the importance of family, school and society working closely with each other to shoulder the responsibility of cultivating students.
Xiao Huang showed ZJNU-KU owned joint high-level ability to cultivating students because it relyed on the excellent pedagogy disciplines of Zhejiang Normal University and the University of Kansas.
She introduced the School of Education of Zhejiang Normal University in detail from the five aspects：teachers, teaching conditions, subject strength, international cooperation and talent training. Then,she introduced the relevant conditions of the School of Education and Humanities of the University of Kansas to parents.At the same time, she showed parents briefly the first undergraduate enrollment of the ZJNU-KU. She also introduced the characteristics of undergraduate education from four aspects: 4+0 mode, 4 1/3, high-level subjects platform and N kinds of ways to improve yourself.She also shared five projects school plans to implement, including language improvement, practice, international exchanging, postgraduate education, and excellent teachers cultivating.
Around the subject calledfreshmen adaptation and home-school communication，Weijun Pu shared his ideas from five aspects：the special period in the university，freshmen adaptation problems, students' work, home-school communication methods and future prospects. Particularly, he mentioned that freshmen may face challenges in learning, life, communication and psychology. He hoped that parents could keep a good state of mind encourage students to get through the adjustment period.
Yuting Zhang and ChenChen Ding shared their ideas around the subject of freshmen adaptation and home-school communication. They hoped every student could set their study goals, develop an interesting and enjoy every moment in the university.They also said parents should believe in their children and give their own space,which can help their children get through the adjustment period.
Teachers of ZJNU-KU answered the questions parents asked patiently. After the discussing, parents got further understanding of education system of ZJNU-KU，the aim of education，school-running characteristics as well as the future of the children. Many parents believe more confirmly in their original choice and they looked forward to helping their children achieve success with ZJNU-KU.
